Item Description

These Andradites are some of the most easily recognizable of any Garnet specimens around. Their distinctive brownish-green or olive green color and semi metallic luster are a dead giveaway. This specimen is a good quality display piece of this famous material from Stanley Butte. It features many sharp, highly lustrous dodecahedra of Andradite with virtually no damage to any of the main crystals, the largest of which measures 7 mm. A nice overall specimen of these well known Garnets. Valued at $500. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
