Item Description

This is a great display specimen from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen, has no Amazonite, but it is a wonderful display piece featuring a prismatic, gemmy/translucent, richly colored Smoky Quartz crystal sitting on sharp, lustrous, golden-brown "sprays" of Goethite with minor metallic grey Hematite on the reverse side. The piece has fantastic aesthetics, and displays very well from a few angles. The Smoky Quartz crystal is also doubly-terminated! Keep in mind that this specimen was collected over 30 years ago (June of 1979), when Richard Kosnar found some of the finest specimens from the Lake George area. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic". Valued at $700-$850.
