Item Description

A VERY rarely seen specimen featuring purplish colored "blades" of Axinite-(Fe) with small creamy white Albite, plus gemmy Smoky Quartz crystals on Microcline matrix from Strzegom (Striegau) in Poland.. The Axinite-(Fe) crystals can be seen on the underside of the specimen and measure up to 3 mm. The largest Microcline crystal measure 2.7 cm long. Please note that the Microclines were originally labeled as Orthoclase, but the species has never been confirmed from this locality. The accenting Smokies make for a great touch. If you collect materail from this historic region, you canot afford to miss out on this rare locality specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4410). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Valued at $500.
