Item Description

Topaz is one of those minerals that is often found in single solitary crystals either on or off matrix, but to find a group of mutiple crystals intergrown like this is rare for the species in my experience. This attractive miniature display specimen features a predominant virtually colorless orthorhombic prism of Topaz at the base, which plays to a secondary crystal of equal quality flaring out of the termination. Both crystals have high quality, GLASSY, smooth faces with good internal gemminess. There is a bit of graceful hydrothermal etching along the side of the specimen, giving it some defined character. If you collect Topaz, gem crystals or minerals of Brazil, don't miss out on this attractive miniature. This beautiful specimen unfortunately doesn't have a more specific locality than Minas Gerais, which means it could be from dozens of different mines. Specimen weight is 45.67 grams. Valued at $700. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
