Item Description

These Brookite specimens are some of the finest quality "Alpine-type" Brookites in the world. Reminiscent of the finest TRUE ALPINE Brookite specimens from the Alps, the best of these crystals are just as sharp, lustrous, gemmy and colorful. If these specimens from Pakistan were found in the Italy or Switzerland, they would be worth thousands! of dollars apiece to knowledgable collectors (if you could even get a European collector to part with one). That's how good they are. This particular specimen hosts a fine quality, good-sized, sharp, lustrous, flame orange colored, thin, tabular Brookite crystal measuring 1.1 cm aesthetically flaring off matrix. Associated Quartz and Albite crystals can be seen on the specimen. If you look at the base of the Brookite, it appears that there's an Anatase crystal present, which is quite rare for this locality! It is not common for this material to find the Brookites aesthetically sitting on matrix like this. A wonderful showy specimen of a species that is not often seen in fine quality crystals like this. Valued at $1,500. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #2259). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
