Item Description

We recently acquired a very small parcel of these new and interesting Clinozoisites from a good friend in Peru. We're told that they're coming from the Pampa Blanca District, but we don't have 100% confirmation on the locality. Clinozoisite is part of the Epidote group, (it's the Al analogue of Epidote) and they are typically differentiated by the fact that Epidote is strongly pleochroic, and Clinozoisite is not. This piece is a wonderful single crystal of Clinozoisite with a lovely soft golden internal color when strongly backlit. The crystal is fairly broad one direction and thin in the other direction with a classic "chisel"-shaped termination. There appears to be fine darkly colored fibrous inclusions of an unknown mineral inside. Overall the piece is in great shape, with only a bit of roughness at the base, and it's actually pretty lustrous on the prism faces as well. Don't miss out on this new and interesting specimen from this limited discovery in Peru.
