Good specimens of the Amphibole species Riebeckite on matrix are not terribly common around the world, and this particular piece is one of the best examples we've had to offer from Mount Malosa. This piece features a pair of very sharp, lustrous, prismatic, well-formed, jet-black crystals of Riebeckite measuring 4.1 cm long sitting on beige colored Microcline crystal matrix. Some of the Microcline crystals actually show attractive Carlsbad twins. The quality of the Riebeckites along with the Carlsbad twinned Microclines plus the aesthetic nature of the piece makes it's a very desirable and worthwhile example of this hard to find material from this world-famous locality.
