Item Description

A classic group of sharp, lustrous, prismatic, black crystals of Schorl measuring up to 1.6 cm from Santa Cruz, Sonora, Mexico. The piece has only a tiny bit of attached matrix on the back, so it's nearly crystallized all the way around. Many of the Schorl crystals show thin fibrous "cat's eye"-esque terminations. This is OLD material, and if you collect Tourmalines or Mexican minerals, this is worth adding to your collection as it's showy and three-dimensional, and RARE on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
