Item Description

A beautiful rarely seen old classic Apatite specimen from the famous Swiss Alps. This stout thumbnail sized specimen shows excellent sharp, lustrous, well-formed faces on all sides. It's essentially colorless / white and fairly translucent when backlit. The piece almost has a pearlescent quality when it's rotated in the light. It's actually doubly-terminated as both basal pinacoids can be seen. No real damage that I can see, save the base where it was removed from the pocket. From an East Coast collection and accompanied by a label from the legendary mineral dealer, Hugh A. Ford. Since the piece has Ford's Wall Street address, the label dates between 1947-1956.
