Item Description

A really attractive and interesting specimen from Brumado featuring classic compressed twinned crystals of Dolomite with distinct color zoning of soft golden to chocolate brown color with selective alternating glistening clarity and matte luster Great quality from the standpoint of the Dolomite, as the species is rarely seen in such well-formed twins, let alone such interesting crystals like this. The reverse of the piece shows many small, razor sharp rhombs of colorless Magnesite. The crystals are in excellent shape, and it's nearly crystallized all the way around, so there isn't any significant damage. This is good quality twinned Dolomite, and the best of these pieces are some of the biggest and gemmiest twinned specimens from any world locality. The largest Dolomite measures 1.5 cm across. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
