Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Spessartines from Ruby Mountain - which was most likely erroneously named for the red Garnets found there - featuring sharp, lustrous, well-formed, deep reddish colored trapezohedra of Spessartine on Rhyolite matrix. The Garnets measur approximately 2.5-3 mm and look beautiful under magnification. It appears that a small amount of metallic silvery colored Hematite is on the specimen as well, but it could be Ilmenite or possibly Pseudobrookite. Self-collected by Dave Bergman, a Colorado miner (the foreman and primary person in charge of recovering specimens at the famous Sweet Home Mine near Alma, Colorado during the late 1970s) and the maternal grandfather of Brian Kosnar.
