Sursassite is a rare manganese aluminum hydroxy silicate. This piece features beautiful somewhat orange-copper colored "needle"-like crystals of Sursassite on host rock matrix. A very hard to find specimen of this rare species from Italy. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #2166) with two labels from Renato and Adriana Pagano. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
