Item Description

I had to do a double take on this one as I first mistook the piece as coming from Tsumeb. It is in fact a hard to find green Calcite and Malachite combo specimen from the classic locality at Concepcion del Oro in Mexico. These Calcites are some of the most elusive and attractive Calcites from any Mexican locality as association with Malachite makes them stand out among Mexican localities. This piece features a few very sharp, lustrous, translucent, vitreous rhombs of Calcite (the entire group measures 2.3 cm) sitting on acicular green Malachite on thin bit of matrix. The piece is in great shape overall, and displays wonderfully as you can see. If you collect Calcites or minerals of Mexico, don't miss out on this one. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5344). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
