Item Description

This two piece set features a few textbook, razor-sharp, very lustrous, well-formed, jet-black cyclic twinned crystals of Cassiterite which are associated with silvery bladed Muscovite matrix. Great quality all around and very worthwhile for anybody who collects Brazilian minerals, Cassiterites or association specimens. Very little damage, and the crystal actually show a TINY bit of internal gemminess when strongly backlit! From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #1278). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
