Item Description

Classic, sharp, lustrous, GEMMY, prismatic crystals of Apatite with the well known greenish yellow color with octahedral Mangetite on matrix from Cerro de Mercado. These crystals are not nearly as common on the market as they were about 20-30 years ago, and are certainly some of the most distinctive crystals of Apatite from any locality in the world. The largest crystal on this piece measures 2.2 cm, and most of them have great form and color. Some crystals are contacted, but many are pristine. This piece would make a nice addition to a gem crystal suite, a collection of Mexican minerals, or a suite of Apatites. Despite a little bit of roughness, this is a pretty good quality specimen of this renowned Mexican material. It has a darker hue from the iron coating (from the Magnetite), so it would brighten up with a bit of cleaning.
