Calcite on Tenorite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Sharp, somewhat resinous, translucent, compressed rhombohedral Calcite crystals with minor associated green Malachite on black Tenorite matrix from Bisbee. Individual crystals were hard to isolated, so I measured the largest group of crystals at 2.0 cm across. Bisbee Calcites are a classic and to find pieces like this with Malachite on Tenorite are rare in my experience. It's a lovely overall specimen and would make a great addition to an Arizona suite. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
