Item Description

A lovely miniature display specimen of green Fluorapatite from an undisclosed locality in Grafton County, New Hampshire. The piece comes with an old label from Stachura Minerals of Uxbridge, Massachusetts that simply says it's from "Grafton, N.H.". My best guess is that it's from the Palermo or Keyes Quarries, but it's hard to know for sure. If any New England mineral experts can help us place this piece, please feel free to contact us. The specimen features a fairly sharp, thick, tabular hexagonal crystal of dark green Fluorapatite measuring 1.7 cm on cream colored Feldspar matrix with a light Muscovite dusting. No damage, and good fluorescence under SW UV light. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
