Item Description

Fine, HIGHLY lustrous, prismatic, black crystals of Babingtonite measuring p to 7 mm, sit atop very gemmy, colorless, prismatic Quartz crystals, with associated spherical Prehnite from this famous isolated locality in China. Rarely is crystallized Babingtonite seen in such sharp, glistenting crystals like this. Fine quality, and difficult to find on the market these days. From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #2045). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
