Item Description

A classic, very showy and unusual Goethite specimen from Colorado. Uncommon, connected, lustrous, golden Goethite botyroids measuring up to 1.3 cm across rest on top of earthy-brown, radial sprays of Goethite blades to form this excellent piece. Examination of the Goethite on the back reveals the radial nature of the blades. This is FINE quality Goethite on a worldwide level, and the two-tone coloring makes for a really eye-catching overall piece. This specimen is from a recent find at the Dreamtime Mine in Teller County. Collected from the Wormhole Pocket. Ex. Adam Sotomayor, who collected it. It should be noted that this mineral was named after the famous German philosopher Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and the correct pronunciation of the species is GER-tite (with a hard "g" like gold). A lovely display specimen of this classic material from Colorado.
