Item Description

A rarely seen example of the hydrated sodium zinc sulfate, Gordaite (which gets its name from the type locality in the Sierra Gorda District in Chile). This piece is actually from the type locality and features minor pearly / flaky colorless to white crystals of Gordaite associated with dark green Herbertsmithite on matrix. We photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to illustrate the quality. You simply do not see these specimens on the market, and this piece is one of only a handful of pieces of this species that we've seen, and comes with a classic label from Josef Vajdak / Pequa Rare Minerals, which immediately increases the value.
