Item Description

A classic specimen of the most famous Rhodochrosites in the world. The Sweet Home Mine is one of the most iconic localities extant due to its production of the finest quality red rhombic Rhodochrosite out there. This piece is from the early mining done by Collector's Edge featuring a predominant, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, red rhomb of Rhodochrosite associated with a 4 mm "phantom" lilac and white crystal of Fluorite showing cubic habit with dodecahedral modifications. Additionally I can see some tiny prismatic pale green Fluorapatite crystals a few "needle" Quartz crystals. Minor sulfides (Sphalerite, Tetrahedrite and Pyrite) can be seen on the reverse side. The piece is in fairly good shape overall, but it is contacted where it was removed from the pocket wall. It's so hard to find solitary isolated Fluorites sitting on Rhodochrosite like this. I don't have to tell you that the value of these specimens keeps rising, and pieces like this are becoming harder to find on the market.
