Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). This is a great old display piece of featuring a good quality, GEMMY, sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic crystal of richly colored Smoky Quartz which is dotted by small nearly colorless Quartz crystals on the prism faces. When backlit, the crystal shows it's very gemmy internally. The piece is nearly 100% complete, save the base where it was removed from the pocket wall. It's a good quality old time specimen dating back probably around 50-60 years. An attractive specimen from this noteworthy collection.
