Item Description

A group of fine, gemmy, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, tabular, "wedge"-shaped crystals of clove purple colored Axinite-(Fe) from this lesser known locality in Pakistan. Khapalu is an "Alpine-type" "kleft" deposit in the high mountains of Pakistan, very similar to the better known "Alpine-type" Axinites from Russia, or true Alpine Axinites from Europe. The crystals are in fairly good condition with only a little bit of edge wear and there is a contact on the base of the piece where it detached from the pocket wall. It's hard to find crystals like this with such good luster and internal gemminess from Pakistan.
