Item Description

Here is a good display specimen of crystallized Ferberite. This species was sometimes previously referred to as "Wolframite", which was supposed to be an intermediary species between Ferberite and Hubnerite, but has since been discredited. This piece features the classic, lustrous, sharp, jet-black, "built-up" bladed crystals forming an attractive group free of matrix. The largest blade measures 2.2 cm across. Overall the piece is in great shape and only has some rough edges around the periphery were it detached from the pocket wall. It has become increasingly difficult to obtain fine quality crystallized Ferberites from Tasna these days and nearly everything is thrown into the crusther for the value of the tungsten ore. If you've ever wanted a nice Ferberite from this famous mine, don't miss out on this one.
