Item Description

This specimen was labeled as coming from "La Colida, Spain", most likely this refers to the La Collada mining area, but based upon the appearance and association of the specimen, I think it could possibly be from Berbes. With that said, it's a lovely large miniature display specimen featuring a few sharp, well-formed, gemmy, rich purple color cubic crystals of Fluorite measuring up to 1.0 cm on edge sitting beautifully on bladed white Barite (partially brown colored from a coating of another mineral or oxidation). Good quality and showy. Spanish Fluorites are some of the finest quality examples in the world of the species. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9267). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
