Item Description

At first glance, this might look like a black (Schorl) Tourmaline with Quartz, but if you backlit the piece you can see that it's actually a beautiful bi-color Tourmaline with a glowing pink zone and a green area near the top. The Tourmaline crystal is terminated, but the majority of that termination is elegantly overgrown by a pair of gorgeous, razor sharp, lustrous, GEM quality, colorless doubly-terminated Quartz crystals lying perpendicularly across the Tourmaline. Such great aesthetics, balance and form. The Tourmaline measures 2.2 cm long, and the largest Quartz measures 2.1 cm long. A cool association specimen from an undisclosed locality in Minas Gerais. Specimen weight is 12.11 grams. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
