Item Description

Beautiful acicular radial "sprays" of golden-yellow colored Cacoxenite along with greenish semi-radial Kidwellite sit on what I believe is Eleonorite (what we used to called Beraunite from this locality). The label accompanying the piece states that "Hyalite" Opal is present, but I can't find any reported instances of this material from this locality. The Indian Mountain locality has produced some of my favorite micro examples of some classic phosphate species including Phosphosiderite and Strengite, but this Cacoxenite / Kidwellite is just beautiful under magnification. We used a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to illustrate the quality. A wonderful hard to find specimen of this elusive material from Alabama.
