Item Description

The Camp Bird mine is one of the most classic San Juan Mountain localities, and is famous for its sulfides. Some of the most attractive and impressive sulfide association specimens are found in this mine along with the Idarado mine. This specimen features a few lustrous, somewhat "rounded" (almost "melted" looking) striated cuboctahedral Galena crystals with primatic white Quartz crystals, minor black tetrahedral Sphalerite and metallic golden Chalcopyrite. The largest Galena crystal measures 1.0 cm across. An attractive specimen from this classic San Juan Mountain locality in southwestern Colorado. Good quality with unique form and nice associations. From the world famous collection of Colorado mineral dealer Richard A. Kosnar (the namesake for the species Kosnarite).
