Item Description

The Siglo XX mine is probably best known for it's phosphate species, but there are some very attractive Pyrite specimens that come out from time to time. This piece is a very attractive display piece featuring sharp, VERY lustrous, cuboctahedral crystal of Pyrites with smooth broad faces, with a small amount of an unidentified grey sulfide / sulfosalt (possibly Franckeite)> The specimen is in excellent shape, with only a few tiny imperfections, but it is honestly one of the best quality Pyrites from this locality that I have offered in the auctions in a while. The largest crystal measures 2.7 cm. The majority of Pyrites from the Siglo XX mine have such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States. This piece is a GOOD specimen for a Pyrite collector or to add to a Bolivian or sulfide suite.
