Item Description

The Uvites from Brumado are some of the most iconic Tourmaline specimens in the world. They are typically found in bi-pyramidal, stout crystals, but this piece features unusually "stacked" semi-prismatic Uvite crystals in parallel growth. The majority of the crystals show a more or less typical equant form, but the overall appearance an oddity for the locality. All of the crystals are very well-formed, sharp and lustrous, and most show a deep reddish hue which grades into a soft golden color when backlit. The piece would make a great addition to any worldwide Tourmaline suite, or a general collection of Brazilian minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5121). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
