Item Description

A really attractive old time Selenite twin from the Dammelwald Clay Pit locality in Germany. A sharp, distinct, fairly thick, well-formed, gemmy, twinned crystal of a slightly smoky color is associated a doubly-terminated crystal and a smaller group of Gypsums free of matrix Great quality all around, and EXTREMELY rare on the market, I've only seen a few other pieces of this material in person. The pieces shows a mild yellowish fluorescence under SW and LW UV light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#H-2059). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A hard to find German classic from the lesser known locality. Valued at $750-$950.
