Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Aquamarine with attached Muscovite and Albite from Galileia, Brazi. Typically, Brazilian Aquas are loose single crystals with no associations. The crystal is a sharp, lustrous, translucent, milk to pale blue color prismatic crystal that is elegant accented by the "flower"-like groups of silvery metallic Muscovite Mica and areas of cream colored Albite The main crystal has a contact termination on one end, where it clearly grew against the wall of the pocket, but it's not damaged. The bottom of the crystal is contacted where it was removed from the pocket, but overall the piece still presents well and looks very nice from a few angles. If you're familiar with Aqumarine from Brazil, you know how hard it is to find crystals with associations like this. Before specimens came out of Pakistan (and later Namibia), these were some of the best examples of Aquamarine extant. Specimen weight is 149 grams. Priced at $1400 in the inventory. From the collection of Rolando Gioia (a contributor to new definitive book on Brazilian minerals: "Minerais e Pedras Preciosas do Brasil").
