Item Description

Here we have a classic specimen of Benitoite from the now closed Gem Mine in California. These are some of the most recognizable specimens in the world and they are renowned for their quality and beauty. This piece hosts several classic, fine quality, sharp, trigonal, beautiful blue crystals of Benitoite measuring up to 1.0 cm on a layer of white Natrolite on matrix. The main crystal is actually fairly gemmy, and sits upright beautifully on the specimen. No real damage, save the periphery. These specimens are becoming incredibly hard to find now, and are highly sought after by collectors. Even though Benitoite is well-known from this locality, it's still an incredibly rare mineral worldwide. The only specimens of note are those from San Benito County, and others from various world localities are typically micros or simply not specimen quality.
