Item Description

A very hard to find specimen of Uvarovite Garnet from the Guleman Mines of Turkey. This chrome-producing locality dates back many decades, and this particular specimen came out circa 1940-1950. Very small, gemmy, electric green dodecahedra of Uvarovite sit on black Chromite matrix. Most of the Garnets are partial crystals, but there are some euhedral faces that can be seen with magnification. It's more of a reference specimen, but how often does one have the chance to purchase a Turkish Uvarovite!? Attention Garnet collectors, don't miss out on a chance to pick up this hard to find specimen to fill a space in your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
