Item Description

An unusual and very hard to find specimen of Goethite from an undisclosed locality in Wolfsheim, Pfalz, Germany according to the label. Attractive, botryoidal black "balls" of Goethite can be seen on nearly all sides of this small cabinet dispaly specimen. The largest "ball" measures 1.2 cm across. Beautiful to view up close as you can see each "ball" comprises thin individual "needles" of Goethite. This is good quality Goethite, and not just crystallized iron oxide. The piece would certainly make a great addition to a German mineral collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2101). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
