Item Description

The Siglo XX mine is probably best known for its phosphate species, but there are some very attractive Pyrite specimens that come out from time to time. This piece is a rather interesting display piece featuring a predominant group of razor sharp, VERY lustrous, cuboctahedral crystal of Pyrite with smooth broad faces, on sparkling grey Quartz matrix. The specimen is in excellent shape, with only a few tiny nicks here and there, and this piece is honestly one of the best Pyrites from this locality that I have offered in the auctions in a while. The largest Pyrite measures 2.3 cm across. If you look at the third photo, you can see a small group of parallel crystals, which I believe are Pyrrhotite pseudomorphs, and very hard to find from this locality. This is certainly an interesting and VERY worthwhile specimen to add to a Pyrite collection, a suite of sulfides or a collection of Bolivian minerals. The majority of Pyrites from the Siglo XX mine have such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States, but this A very Pyrite specimen for you collection.
