Item Description

A classic and now very hard to find example of Fluorite from the famous Climax Open Pit Mine - one of the largest molybdenum producers in the world. This piece features frosted purple cuboctahedra of Fluorite measuring up to 1.1 cm with minor matrix. If you collect Fluorites, thumbnails or Colorado minerals, don't miss out on this hard to find specimen from this classic locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11715). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
