Item Description

Quartz from Las Vigas are world-famous, but this is honestly the first example of a Muzo habit crystal that I've seen from this prolific specimen producer. In the Muzo habit, the m prism faces under the z rhombohedra get replaced by a prism consisting of alternating z and m faces. An ideal crystal would not have any prism faces below the "r" faces. This attractive single crystal shows execllent form for this particular habit. It's notably WATER CLEAR and is unusually colorless, as most Quartz crystals from this locality are purple. If you collect Quartz crystals or unusual morphologies, don't miss out on this hard to find example from this classic locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12011). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
