Item Description

A great old classic from the historic Pribram District in the Czech Republic. This piece features a few gorgeous tabular crystals of bright silvery colored Bournonite measuring up to 8 mm across associated with grye Berthierte, plus Quartz and flattened tan Siderite on matrix. Berthierite is a rare iron antimony sulfosalt and not often found in good crystallized specimens. The species was named in 1827 after Pierre Berthier a chemist from France, and mineralogist at the Ecole des Mines. This piece features micro acicular, silvery-grey thin needles of Berthierite, but you need to look closely to see them. A great old time association specimen that dates back 100 years + based upon the old hand-written label accompanying the piece.
