Item Description

A very hard to find association specimen of Azurite and Malachite from Harz, Lower Saxony, Germany. It's more of a reference specimen as both the Azurite and Malachite are fairly basic in form and sitting on oxidized matrix. It appears as if there are a few small pyritohedral Pyrites on the peice as well. It's very difficult to find ANY specimens of Azurite on the market from Harz, so this is a nice piece to add to a reference suite or a German collection. The piece comes from Brian Lloyd of London, one of the preeminent European mineral dealers. Among other accomplishments, Brian was responsible for bringing the Sir Robert Ferguson collection to market, along with the Joseph Neeld collection (1789-1856) in 1974 and the historic gold collection of H.S. Gordon. Brian famously purchased the historic dealership formerly known as J.R. Gregory & Company - today known as Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd. The catalogue number on this specimen is 1531.
