Item Description

Calcites from St Andreasberg are some of the most iconic and classic specimens from the locality. This attractive small cabinet display specimen hosts a predominant, sharp, lustrous, translucent, blocky rhombic scalenohedral crystal of nearly colorless Calcite measuring 4.9 cm wiht additional smaller Calcite on matrix. The piece is very three-dimensional, and the main Calcite is complete all around with lovely secondary modifications on the corners and edges. Fine quality all around, and ane xcellent example of the material from St Andreasberg. Valued at $950. The piece comes from Brian Lloyd of London, one of the preeminent European mineral dealers. Among other accomplishments, Brian was responsible for bringing the Sir Robert Ferguson collection to market, along with the Joseph Neeld collection (1789-1856) in 1974 and the historic gold collection of H.S. Gordon. Brian famously purchased the historic dealership formerly known as J.R. Gregory & Company - today known as Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd.
