Item Description

This piece is simply labeled as coming from Bancroft, Ontario, with no specific mine mentioned. It is a notably thick Fluorapatite crystal with well-formed hexagonal prismatic faces and the classic olive green color. Internally, the crystal shows very slight translucency in areas when backlit, and the surface shows a slightly vitreous luster. One end shows a very nice pyramidal termiantion, and the piece would make a decent reference addition to an Apatite suite or a collection of Canadian minerals. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
