Item Description

A really attractive and unusual old-timer specimen that according to the label dates back to circia 1930s-1950s. The piece is dramatic in appearance with its beautiful sculptural form that is the result of partial etching near the center of the piece that gives way to fully crystallized, sharp, well-formed cubes on the exterior edges. The piece is very three-dimensional with no real "front" side as it looks beautiful from all directions. The color is a deep grape jelly purple hue and requires a bit of backlighting for it to shine through. There is a spot on the lower edge where a bit of golden Fluorite can be seen, giving the piece a similar appearance to the etched corners from the famous Elmwood Mine in Tennessee. From the personal collection of Ross Lillie (#RCL 2289) who stated that he purchased the specimen from David Ennis who acquired the piece from a collection in southern Michigan. Overall there is very little in the way of damage, and it's very attractive in person. Valued at $1,450 in the inventory.
