Item Description

An old-time, classic and fine cluster of mirror-bright, brass-yellow, octahedra of Pyrite on Quartz matrix from the Butte District of Montana. The largest octahedron measures 1.8 cm. The piece is in good shape overall, but some of the crystals are contacted, so it's not 100% damage free. Butte Pyrites are world famous for the quality and superior crystallization. Valued at $450. From the worldwide collection of noted Idaho collector Geary Murdock. Among other accomplishments, Geary was responsible for discovering some of the finest gem grade deep blue Aquamarine crystals in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho - which remain arguably the finest Aquamarines from any North American locality. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/36634006/geary-jack-murdock
