Item Description

Swiss Smoky Quartz specimens are world famous for their excellent form, size and quality. This piece is a lovely display specimen from the famous Zinggenstucke featuring a handful of very sharp, well-formed, attractive hexagonal prismatic crystals. The crystals show a deep smoky cognac hue when backlit, and are further contrasted by a "dusting" of soft sage green "Chlorite" in a selective deposition. The crystals are virtually 100% WATER CLEAR and very good quality all around. The base of the crystal has a slight saw mark, so it can stand on its own without a base or clay. Very attractive, and Swiss Quartz specimens are highly sought after by collectors worldwide. Valued at $850. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10344). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
