Item Description

A very hard to find old time specimen of Auichalcite from Dal'negorsk (labeled as Dal'negorsk Tetjuche originally). There is a beautiful hand-written label accompanying the piece that dates it to July 2, 1940! The display side of the piece features a vug filled with wonderful somewhat velvety botryoidal groups of Aurichalcite that have a slight iron(?) coating that caused them to turn from a blue color for more of a green hue. There are other open vugs on the back of the specimen where the Aurichalcite is a much more bright sky blue color. This is antique material from Dal'negorsk and nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find on the market today. This is the kind of piece that rounds out a suite, as most Russian collections don't have a piece of Aurichalcite from Dal'negorsk, especially with such wonderful pedigree! Valued at $950. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8079). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
