Item Description

A wonderful association specimen featuring white prismatic crystals of the rare complex beryllium silicate Leifite (named for the Viking, Leif Ericson) associated with micro reddish-brown crystals of Rhodochrosite and a pinkish mineral which was originally labeled as Cancrinite, but is very possible Cancrisilite. Good quality and very hard to find on the market these days, especially since the quarry is now OFF LIMITS to collectors! From the worldwide collection of famed Italian mineral collector, field collector and author, Francesco Bedogne of Sondrio, Italy (Collection #1503). Bedogne wrote dozens of articles and several books about the mineralogy of Italian Alpine localities such as Val Bregaglia, Val Masino, Val Codera, Val Spluga, Valtellina and the famous Val Malenco. He was also the founder of the Valtellinese Mineralogical Institute.
