Item Description

A fine quality, lustrous, sligthly smoky colored Quartz group with very sharp faces plays host to fibrous / "needle"-like inclusions of Astrophyllite from this unique locality in Pakistan. The Quartz crystals have an unusual compressed habit, and they are intergrown to form a very three-dimensional and showy overall specimen. HARD TO PHOTOGRAPH and BETTER in person. It's a superb display specimen and more than just a Quartz from Pakistan. It has a lot of character and really distinguishes itself from most specimens I've seen from this locality. Zagi Mountain is the home of some of the more exotic minerals from Pakistan as it's not the typical granitic pegmatite, but rather a metamorphic Alpine-type deposit. I believe that Zagi Mountain is the only confirmed locality for Astrophyllite in Pakistan. Good quality on the display side, and very showy. I can see one tiny nick on the edge of the largest Quartz, but every other side on the specimen is completely crystallized making it near complete "floater" Still a hard to find and worthwhile specimen, especially if you collect inclusion pieces. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock. Valued at $650.
