Item Description

Copper specimens from this lesser known locality on Elba Island are seldom available on the market. I've only seen a handful of them over the years. This attractive thumbnail sized specimen features sparkling, brilliant micro Copper crystals free of matrix. The label mentions that it's associated with Malachite, as while I can see a pale greenish-colored mineral on the back, I'm not convinced it's actually Malachite. If you collect copper species, minerals of Italy, or general European minerals, don't miss out on this attractive and very hard to find piece from Elba. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3796). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
