Item Description

This is a really attractive piece of these iconic Fluorites from the Cacilia Mine. The crystals notably gemmy with beautiful purple and green zoning, with crystals measuring up to 3.5 cm on edge, but the coating of "sugary" / drusy Quartz makes for a lovely overall appearance. No major damage, only some incomplete areas around the periphery where it detached from the matrix. Oddly, there is a small red paper arrow glued to the back of the piece, but it doesn't seem to be pointing at anything specific besides the Fluorite. The center of the specimens show a slight color change in different temperature light. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5843). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). A great German classic from the famous locality. Valued at $1500-$1750.
